vancouver christmas market

The Vancouver Christmas Market is something that I love to do each and every year, along with so many other Vancouverites here in the city. There is no better way to get into the Christmas spirit than with a good ole fashioned German Christmas Market. This year they are celebrating their 10th year running which means they have some great stuff in store for this year that you wont want to miss out on. Plus all the classic goodies too of course.

With 80 vendors this year, yes that is even more than last year, there is tons to do and explore. Let me tell you all about what you can find at the Vancouver Christmas Market.

Food & Drinks

As always the food this year is as delicious as always and this year they have even more in store for you. Some of the things I think you should for sure check out? The Wild Mushroom soup is definitely a must eat, if you aren’t a fan of mushrooms please put that aside and give this soup a try it is GOOD.

This year one of their fun new additions to the food line up are the big turkey legs! You can head over to Turkey Haus for a nice old school bite to eat – share a tender smoked turkey leg with the family. Of course make sure to leave some room to try all the other amazing nibbles there are to enjoy. Their walnut chimney cakes are definitely something that shouldn’t be missed and neither should you miss out on the Gluheim! Of course you can always find the classics: German Bratwurst, Gulasch, Spätzle, Schnitzel, sweet and savoury macarons, syrup-filled pancakes, warm roasted chestnuts and so many more!

And guess what?? This year you can collect not just one but TWO new cups from the market – one of which even lights up. Of course they will have their 10th year anniversary mug that is so gorgeous and looks super lovely no matter what drink you have in there. This year there is more than just great beer varieties and mulled wine, you can also enjoy a specialty cocktail like a hot Jägertee, over in the WunderBAR. This great little winter oasis is great for parties and is totally bookable for any holiday plans you might be making this year! Not only that they will also offer their own little menu of charcuterie boards in both omnivore and vegan options.

You can even go home with one of the great glowing WunderBAR mugs that even have lids to go with them so don’t forget to swing in for a visit and try a couple drinks, have a nibble and snag yourself a mug while you warm yourself by the fire in their cozy little space.

Shopping

Of course while you are waddling around after filling yourself up on all kinds of good stuff you can do a little shopping for some of those wonderful people on your list this year. Granted we didn’t get to check out everything at the Media event we did get to see more than a few lovely vendors showing off all their great items. If you know someone who loves to collect nesting dolls then you will 100% find something that they will love at Christmas market.

There is of course the massive collection of ornaments and decorations to look at which is great if you love to collect a new ornament for your family and other family members. A new ornament is the perfect gift idea for anyone on your list that you might be struggling to find something for – they have one for everyone! Their extensive decorations from paper advent calendars to nutcrackers and even music boxes they have it all.

Lights & Fun

There is so much to buy and eat at the market but there are also a whole bunch of fun things to do while you are there. You can ride the carousel, take photos with santa, take advantage of all the amazing “selfie zones”, check out lovers lane for a photo and a smooch, add a love lock to the fence feature or just listen to Christmas carols while you enjoy your hot mulled wine, apple cider or hot chocolate. Don’t forget to request “Santa Shark” if you have your littles with you, they will get a kick out of it! Doors open today and you can get your tickets online NOW!
