Theatre under the stars

One of the most anticipated events in Stanley Park Theatre Under the Stars, TUTS, is a brilliant way to spend an evening with family, friends or even for a cute date night idea. With options to sit in the seating area, or designated picnic area you have the ability to stretch out and relax while you enjoy the show. Snag some delicious snacks, get cozy and always make sure to prep for any weather.

The 2022 season of TUTS has two fantastic musicals that exemplify all of the best aspects of the famous theatrical genre: complex set design, gorgeous costumes, and show-stopping musical performances. Something Rotten! depicts two playwright twins Nick and Nigel Bottom in the Renaissance era, whose hopes of making a great show are dashed by Shakespeare’s extraordinary success. A strange soothsayer predicts a new path for the brothers: creating a completely new style of theatre – the musical! We Will Rock You is set 300 years in the future and chronicles the high-octane story of two misfits, Galileo and Scaramouche, who rise up in their quest for freedom against the diabolical world ruler, Killer Queen.

Theatre under the stars

Something Rotten! is a delightful parody that both celebrates and pokes fun at everything that audiences love about Broadway. Something Rotten! celebrates the musical theatre genre and all of its follies with funny lyrics and a vivid, colourful songbook, referencing timeless classics such as West Side Story, South Pacific, and Les Misérables. The show, which is full of love and playfulness, ultimately reminds us that the grass is not always greener on the other side.
