Star Trek Family Movie Night With TELUS

Movie nights are always a great way for our family to bond together over the nerdy things that we all love like Star Trek. Our whole house have been huge Trekkies for years; both my hubby and I grew up watching it and now we make sure that our boys grow up doing the same. Instilling the same great liberal lessons and great moral ideas behind the show that we have always applauded it for. When I heard that the newest Star Trek movie: Star Trek Beyond was coming to TELUS Optik I was super excited.

I immediately, with the help of TELUS, got to planning an amazing Star Trek themed movie night. We were able to watch Star Trek on Optik earlier than anyone else. In fact, its not available anywhere else until November 1st! TELUS sent our family a wonderful gift to help us on our way and we were over the moon (excuse the pun) about it. With our Star Trek risk and my recipe ideas I knew we were going to be well on our way to helping all of you create your very own Star Trek movie night with TELUS.

Star Trek Movie Night with TELUS

Now we all know that the key to a great movie night is full immersion into the world of your choosing. Since we are going off to explore far off worlds in space via Star Trek it was only fitting that I create some great, picky kid friendly, recipes any Trekkie would approve of.

Seltin Pate (Star Trek Inspired)

Seltin Pate (Star Trek Inspired)

  • 1 cup of Sour Cream
  • 1/2 cup of softened Cream Cheese
  • 1/3 cup of washed, gills removed While Pearl Mushrooms
  • 4 cloves of minced Garlic
  • 1 tsp of Lemon juice
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Wonton wraps for dip bowl
  • 1 tbsp melted butter

  1. Preheat oven to 350
  2. Take your wonton wraps and brush with melted butter about 4-5 squares is all you need.
  3. Roll tin foil into a ball with one flat side.
  4. Place flat side down and drape your wraps over it.
  5. Put into oven till golden brown, set aside and let cool.
  6. Put cream cheese, sour cream into a bowl and mix together on high till fully combined.
  7. Add in prepared mushrooms, garlic and lemon and again mix on high until smooth.
  8. Add salt and pepper to taste and serve with chips!

This recipe is traditionally from the planet of Seltin and showcases the planets luscious fungus varieties. Great for parties.

Granted that no movie night is complete without a great drink to enjoy and in this case I knew I just had to create a great VIRGIN Romulan Ale that both my boys could enjoy along with us. I knew this was going to be a fun little task and I like to think that I did a great job at making something quick and delicious for my boys to drink up.

Virgin Romulan Ale

2 parts Blue Hawaiian Punch
2 parts carbonated water
couple drops of blue food coloring if needed

Simply mix together with ice and serve with nibbles.

Again simple and easy, plus a great way to enjoy Star Trek Beyond this November 1st on TELUS Optik TV. Now I want to give you a chance to get a movie night on TELUS too! They are offering one of my TELUS customer readers a movie credit so you can enjoy Star Trek Beyond on Optik this November 1st too!! Just enter below!
