We complain about a lot of things in our city here in Vancouver, as parents school is always one of those hot topics… but you know what. We have no right to complain. We are so lucky to have schooling that is so easily accessible to all of us no matter our situations. School is always an option – we even have incredible home school support, we have educated parents.
There is a lot that we take for granted. Lotte Davis, Founder and CEO of AG Hair, knew we were all so lucky and wanted to help those who didn’t get school as an option. All over Africa there are girls being told they can’t go to school, school costs too much or it is too far. So many obstacles for them, obstacles we would never have to face here in Canada. So she created One Girl Can to help get more girls into more classrooms all over Africa!
To help with her cause and she is holding her annual #IWant2Be – One Girl Can event here in Vancouver April 21st, 2016 at The Imperial this year! A great event that will be MC’d by local celeb Fiona Forbes from 6-8pm, you can enjoy amazing nibbles, great company and lovely silent auction. A night not to be missed!
“Educating women is the only known cure for ending poverty,” says One Girl Can’s Lotte Davis. “In one short evening, we can raise enough money to effect sustainable change in literally hundreds of lives, and slowly start to shift the needle on gender imbalance and poverty in Africa.”
So let’s make this year a super amazing one with lots of amazing people helping a great cause while enjoying a fancy night out!
Tickets are $65 and are available for purchase online. Anyone unable to attend the event can still support by donating funds to purchase key necessities for One Girl Can students, including a mattress, bunk bed, a toilet or a shower stall.
